To Friends and Family of the Future Mr. Burks & Mrs. Burks,
Of my 21 years of being on this earth, I honestly do not know much about “true love”. More than ever, it seems so hard to define the real meaning of “love” and to provide a legitimate example of it. If anything, I would be the perfect expert to point out the opposite of "true love". But I know one thing for an absolute fact, if there is such an oddity of “true love” existing today, a prime example would be Heather and Walter.
These two best friends first impacted my life for the better good during first semester of my undergraduate freshmen year. As I grew to better know them, I immediately understood their deep love that they had in their relationship. Watch Heather constantly criticize Walter for his taste in country music but also notice how she goes above and beyond to help Walter by gaining an all-access-pass to his beloved Carolina Panthers. Moreover, you can see their passion for one another when they are in each other’s presence (even if they are dead tired from studying in the basement of Joyner Library at 2 in the morning). I personally lost count on how many times I have had a conversation with Walter and he would keep bringing up Heather’s name in the subject matter. I envy that zygomatic smile that comes upon Walter’s face every time he says her name.
It is true destiny that these two soul mates belong together. I for one will share the overwhelming joy on May 21st when they unite in holy matrimony. A thousand angels will rejoice in the heavenly kingdom because these two followers of Christ will finally be together. They love each other in a place where there is no space or time; and for that, they make me a believer that “true love” does exist after all.
